ABSENCE OF WATER

Having been built in the late Victorian period, public lidos and baths were at the peak of their popularity in the 1930s. Gradually, living conditions and tastes have changed, resulting in a drop of attendances, leaving the public pools uneconomical to run. Many fell into decay and many were demolished. Symbols of civic and architectural pride in Victorian times, today only a handful of them remain as a representation of bygone era.

Zumtobel annual report By David Chipperfield Architects and John Morgan studio

Thanks to Zumtobel Group I have received the 22nd artistic annual report and I’m happy to share with you some of my favorites windows!

David Chipperfield chose this concept because, for him, the window is a key element of architectural design, forging the link between light, space and the individual.

Jon Uriarte, Portraits of men wearing their Girlfriends’ clothes

"The men under the influence..." adresses the recent change in roles in heterosexual relationships from the relationships of our predecessors and how those changes have affected men in particular. the photos attempt to capture men's sense of loss reference, now that women have taken a step forward and have finally come into their own as equal partners. The project consists of full-lenght portraits of men wearing the clothes of their girlfriends or wifes, taken in the space shared by the couple.

"The men under the influence..." incide en el reciente cambio de roles en las relaciones de pareja heterosexuales. Busca representar la sensación de pérdida de referencias por parte del hombre cuando se relaciona con mujeres que han dado un paso mas allá conquistando, por fin, un espacio propio y cómo ese triunfo por parte de ellas, crea una sensación de extravío en ellos. El proyecto se compone de retratos de hombres vestidos con la ropa de sus parejas, realizados en sus espacios compartidos.

“The most compelling aspect of April’s work is that it’s fraught with high-stakes emotion. Her palette and draping technique reference the body and bring a physical tension to the work while simultaneously eliciting raw-edged feelings; a secret ache, anxiety, or awe comes creeping in and catches you off guard.” – via In The Make
